Calling card FAQ

Once my order is placed, how long will I have to wait for my card details?

Instantly! Even brand new customers will have their calling card details viewable on screen as soon as you've setup your PIN.

How do connection fees work?

Connection fees are used to supplement very low cost calls. Each time your callee (or an answerphone) answers your call, a small fee - usually around 5 pence will be deducted from the available card credit. This is becuase on some calling rates the rate is so low that it would not be financially viable to serve the telephony route if it were not for the additional fee. We do review these fees on a regular basis and promise to keep them to a minimum.

What if I make a call and no one answers? Will I have to pay the connection fee?

No, you don't pay any connection fees on unanswered calls.

Will I get the advertised rate per minute on every call I make?

The rate you pay may vary slightly from what is shown in the rates listings. This may be due to varying exchange rates between the UK pound and the US dollar. The exchange rate is updated frequently throught the day however, so any variance should be limited.

Is the rate the same 24 hours a day?

Absolutely! Our rates remain the same - we have no such thing as peak time rates

Am I going to be charged anything on my regular phone bill?

Our local access rates use traditional national rate lines. This is largely because we have noticed that many of our customers like to use their calling cards with their mobile phones. Calling an 0800 number from a mobile tends to cost the same as a regional number anyway under these circumstances.

What about busy signals or "busy circuits"?

Busy circuits are not something we expect you to encounter on our network.

How do I know how many minutes are left on my card?

A computerised voice will announce at the start of each call how much credit you have remaining on your card. The amount of remaining credit is also viewable in the card summary section of the Comms-Lab website.

Is there a customer service number I can call?

Sure there is! It's +441454838191

Are there additional charges when calling from a payphone?

Nope! There are no additional surcharges when using your card from a payphone. You may have to pay for the call cost to your local access number of course.

How are calls billed?

Most calls are billed in 1 minute increments with, but some international countries may be billed in 3 minute increments.
